AQ Measurement has a selection of particle measuring systems: portable air particle counter also referred to as handheld particle counter, wall mounted particle counters, benchtop particle counters, remote particle counters, and wearable particle counters. Each device is suitable for the measurement of particles in the air for use outdoors, in private residences, in manufacturing or office environments, and hospital cleanrooms.
Particle Counters measure the quantity of particles in the air in sizes from 0.3 um to 10 um. They also report the PM2.5 and PM10 particle counts. Select particle counters also measure the mass concentration of particles in ug/L. This is useful when measurement of particle density is required to meet OSHA standards. The measurement of particles is accomplished with the internal vacuum pump, which draws airborne particles across an internal laser system which counts the particles and classifies each particle according to its size range. The vacuum pump has a fixed flow rate, commonly 2.83L/min. The mass concentration of each particle size range is calculated by the number of particles multiplied by the sample time, the flow rate, and the mass of the particle.
A portable air particle counter of handheld particle counter is commonly used in household air quality measurement or outdoors. It is commonly used in the household to help determine the quality of the air to determine if an unsafe air quality condition exists or after air quality improvements have been made such as an addition of a filtration system to confirm or verify the improved air quality. It is also commonly used outdoors to determine safe air quality in places where brush fires are common or near chemical or manufacturing plants to verify the quality of the air.
